Hi All, I tried to speed up the uLCD43, and using the "Disp" tool to change the "initial baud rate" to 256000. ( Previously I speeded it up from 9600bps to 115000 bps and it worked great. ) After that I could no longer connect to the uLCD43. I tried to reflash the uLCD43 using the PmmC Loader with the file named " uLCD-43PTSGC-R22.PmmC" but when in PmmC loader I click "Load", I get an error message: "unexpected response from display:-0". ( I chose the correct Com port in PmmC ) The uLCD43 startup screen goes on when plugged in, but I can't communicate with it in any way. What to do? Thanks!!! |

"unexpected response from display:-0" means you haven't reloaded the PmmC, so try again, check that the display is ready and you have the correct port selected. If it still doesn't work please describe your setup Before changing the PmmC speed, use the SGC command for that purpose to ensure your controller can communicate at that speed. Did you set it to '256000' (which is really 282353, historical, don't ask) or '256k true' (which is really 256000)? |

I tried to run PmmC from 2 systems: 1) Windows Xp sp3 32bit machine ( Using the 4D programming cable ) with the CP210x_VCP_Win_XP_S2K3_Vista_7 drivers
2) Windows 7 64bit 8 core system ( Using the 4D programming cable ) with the CP210x_VCP_Win_XP_S2K3_Vista_7 drivers
Both gave me the same error "unexpected response from display:-0" ( I Used "DISP" tool to change the COM speed cause changing the speed using SGC made the LCD freeze every time. )
I set the speed in "DISP" to '256000', not '256k true' ( This change ruined the connection from that moment on) Any Ideas? |

Have you altered the baud rates using the AN205SW? If so, reset the values back to the defaults and try loading the PmmC again. Is the programming cable connected directly or through a hub? If so, try it directly connected. During the attempt at downloading the PmmC, does the SGC splash screen stay steady, or does it flash a couple of times? |

a) I didn't change the programming cable's baud rates and didn't use AN205SW. b) The programming cable is connected directly, no HUB. c) During the attempt at downloading the PmmC, the SGC splash screen stays steady. No flashing.

OK.
So it sounds like the Reset line is getting lost somewhere.
The reset line should pulse for 1ms shortly after 'Load' is clicked on the PmmC loader.
Can you check to see if there is a pulse coming from the programming cable?
Then check that it gets onto the display board.
And then check for suspect joints along the Reset lines path on the display.
Don't try manually toggling the reset line, you could brick your display.
Of course, only if you have the knowledge / tools / ability / confidence to do that. |
